New Year’s Resolutions
January 9, 2009
I have always enjoyed making New Year’s Resolutions. The start of each year is such a good time to evaluate how I am doing and what I need to improve. Having something to work for gives my life purpose. However, this year, I couldn’t think of too many I wanted to work on. Until I sat down and started writing them out. Then I thought of a lot. As I was pondering what resolutions I wanted to make, I came across other people’s ideas of resolutions they had made.
1. Be it Ever so Humble: Do something each week that will last beyond the week. I love this! It seems like the housework I do lasts only a day or so before it has to be done again. (Laundry, dishes, and meals: I’m looking at you!) So here is a resolution to spend my time on something that would last longer than that. The few ideas that came to my mind: organizing closets and cupboards, taking pictures of my family, adding to our personal family history by writing things down, and working on our more extended family history.
2. Simplemom: “Using a kaizen approach” This site puts setting goals in perspective for me. Just doing a little bit at a time.
3. Zen Habits: New Year’s Challenge Instead of setting resolutions, this site challenges you to work on changing habits.
Here are my resolutions for this year:
1. I am going to join Mrs. Mordecai in her goal to do something each week that lasts beyond the week.
2. Socialize with another couple or family at least once a month.
3. Document our personal family history more. (by updating this blog, working on our journals, taking pictures, etc.)
4. Set a goal date to pay off our house so we know how much we need to be pouring into our home every month.
5. Keep up my level of fitness by running 2-3 times a week and strength 1-2 times a week.
6. Attend the temple regularly.
That’s a start for now. I will try to update occasionally to help myself remember my goals.
Thanks for joining me! You’ve given me some more good ideas to add to my list. I think we should pay more attention to our financial goals. Maybe we’ll have a talk about our house, too.
Great list Sarah, and thanks for the links, I’m excited to check them out. You always inspire me to be a better person, thank you so much! Oh, and we’ll hang out with you guys once a month
It’s been way to long since we’ve gotten together.
